Cocaine is readily available in most areas of Alaska and is seen with great frequency in powder form. Crack cocaine is available in Alaska's major urban areas.

According to the NSDUH approximately 63,000 (12%) of Alaska citizens (ages 12 and older) reported past month use of an illicit drug. 13,000 (2.56%) has had past year use of cocaine.

According to the NSDUH data, approximately 13% of Alaska 12-17 year olds reported past month use of and illicit drug. 1,000 (1.95%0 have used cocaine in the past year.

In 2006 13.8 kilograms were seized by Federal Drug Administration. Between 2003-2005 21,336 kilograms of cocaine were seized by the ABADE Units in Alaska.

During FY 2006, 37.9% of the federally-sentenced defendants in Alaska had committed a drug offense. Nearly 40% of these drug offenses involved powder cocaine.

2004-2005 NSDUH results indicate that 18,000 (3.4%) Alaska citizens reported illicit drug dependence or abuse within the last year. Approximately 12,000 (2.4%) reported past year illicit drug dependence. According to NSDUH data, approximately 18,000 (3.5%) Alaska citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use within the past year.
