Enforcement activities reflect a steady supply of cocaine coming into and through Colorado. Crack is available in the larger metropolitan areas of Colorado, generally in street level amounts. According to the NSDUH in 2003-2004 approximately 379,000 (10.18%) of Colorado citizens (ages 12 and older) reported past month use of an illicit drug. 127,000 (3.42%) reported use of cocaine. Additions results from the NSDUH indicate that 124,000 (3.32%) Colorado citizens reported illicit drug dependence or abuse within the lat year. Approximately 79,000 (2.13%) reported lat year illicit drug dependence. 2005 8.1% in Colorado High School students reported use of cocaine.2.7% reported past month use. 12.8 % High School Seniors have reported use of cocaine. 5.3% of high school seniors reported last month use of cocaine. According to the 2003-2004 NSDUH data approximately over 13% of Colorado 12-17 year olds reported past month use of an illicit drug. 8,000 (1.96%) reported past year use of cocaine.

IN 2005 131.5 kilograms of cocaine were seized by Federal Agencies. 17,352 adults were arrested for drug abuse violations in Colorado. In 2005 25.9% of federally sentenced defendants in Colorado had committed a drug offense. 23.3% were for powder cocaine involvement and 14.1% were crack cocaine. According to the Colorado DOC, on June 30, 2005, approximately 78% of the prisoners were "substance abusers" .

Of the 8,237 AIDS cases reported in Colorado through September 2005, 9.2 (759 cases) were classified as injecting drug users.

In 2004 Colorado had 170 cocaine/crack related deaths and 4,174 cocaine related hospital discharges. In 2004 120 calls were made to the Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Center for cocaine use related incidents.

Who attempts at getting help

During 2005 there were 75,657 admissions to drug/alcohol treatment in Colorado. According to the 2003-2004 MSDUH data approximately 116,000 (3.1%) Colorado citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use within the past year.
