Cocaine is available at both wholesale and retail value. Crack cocaine is s serious problem in the large urban centers of Nebraska.

According to the 2003-2004 data from the NSDUH approximately 98,000 (6.9%) Nebraska citizens (ages 12 or older) reported past month use of an illicit drug. 30,000 (2.08%) reported past year cocaine use. Additional 2003-2003 NSDUH results indicate that 41,000 (2.88%) Nebraska citizens reported illicit drug dependence or abuse within the past year. Approximately 27,000 (1.91%) reported past year illicit drug dependence.

According to the NSDUH data approximately 10% Nebraska 12-17 year olds reported past month use of an illicit drug. 2,000 (1.64%) reported past year cocaine use.

In 2004, 157.3 kilograms of cocaine were seized by federal agencies. During 2005, 63.4% of federally-sentenced defendants in Nebraska were charged with drug offenses. 25.3% involved powder/crack cocaine

Who attempts at getting help

During 2005 there were 14,704 admissions to alcohol/drug treatment in Nebraska. 124 (0.8%) were for use of cocaine. 542 (3.7%) were for use of crack cocaine. According to 2003-2004 NSDUH data approximately 37,000 (2.62%) Nebraska citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use within the past year.
