We are here to HelpHeroin is a serious problem in Utah. Mexican brown and black tar heroin are available throughout the state with multi-ounce and larger quantities distributed in major cities. Mexico and Southern California are the source areas for multi-ounce and pound quantities of heroin. Mexican organizations trafficking in heroin also distribute cocaine and methamphetamine. Street-level distribution organizations are typically run by a dispatcher who directs runners to deliver to customers in public areas such as parking lots. Prices and purity levels for gram-level heroin purchases in Utah have remained relatively stable in the last two years. In recent surveys preformed by The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), 8.47% of Utah 19,943 state residents who admitted themselves into treatment for heroin. Not including the 3.6% state residents who admitted themselves into treatment for either opiates or more than one drug. Studies also show that 46,000 or 2.86% of Utah citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment fort illicit drug and alcohol use in the past year. Surveys indicate that 2.9% of high school seniors polled had tried heroin at least one time in the past year.
