Alcohol and Drug Rehabs: Selling Fads or Promoting Effective Help?

drug rehab

A look at alcohol and drug rehab websites suggests that they are pushing whatever fad sells rather than offering effective programs that help people overcome alcohol or drug problems.

These profit-driven corporations appear to be much more interested in raising revenues than in helping people. They aggressively promote such questionable and unproven “therapies” as adventure therapy, equine or horse therapy, ocean therapy (yacht therapy), rope course therapy, and sound therapy.

Their motto seems to be “if you think it works, we’ll sell it to you” rather than ”we provide a program proven to be highly effective in helping people.”

There is no scientific evidence whatsoever that working with horses, riding around in a yacht, or climbing ropes helps people overcome addiction — none, zero, nada. However, it is guaranteed to cost as much as $1,000 a day and help empty your wallet quickly.

The choice is yours.
