At Saint Jude Retreats our focus is to make you feel comfortable to talk about anything with our staff. The Saint Jude Program does not follow the disease concept of addiction, we do not tell you that relapse is part of recovery, and we will never tell you that in order to become sober you need to give yourself to a higher power. We, on the other hand, teach the truth about addiction; addiction is a choice you make and it is your choice to stop using or drugging. Now you might be asking yourself, 'well this is a bold statement', however it is within you as a woman/man of will, to do whatever in life you set yourself to do. In the science of Neuroplasticity numerous studies prove that our brain is a plastic organ that continues to evolve and change even after significant damage is done.
Indiana statistics for 2005 show that an estimated 403,000 citizens had an alcohol abuse or dependency condition, and an estimated 148,000 residents were addicted to drugs. Although these numbers seem alarmingly high, what is of more concern is that an estimated 385,000 did not receive alcohol rehabilitation and that 133,000 did not receive needed drug rehabilitation.
People from the State of Indiana call St Jude's everyday to learn more about how our Non 12 Step and Non Treatment programs differ from Alcohol treatment and rehab.
It is important to understand that relapse is not a natural part of Alcohol "recovery" because if you choose to stop using Alcohol today; there is no scientific evidence that proves you need to admit to being an alcoholic to remain sober.
