I came the the Saint Jude Retreat House in the late fall of 1993 after an unsuccessful attempt at a conventional 12 step based treatment facility. At the Retreat House I was given a message of hope and permanent recovery. These were pretty lofty ideas for a seemingly hopeless crack addict.

After completing my stay, I went home to rebuild my life. In the years that followed I married for the first time, had two beauitful boys, opened and operated my own business, and completed two degree programs, graduating from the latter Magna Cum Laude.

I owe this success to God and the Saint Jude Retreat House. Now if they could just do the same thing for my baseball team, the NY Mets.
