Looking for help with addiction to Cocaine can seem an impossible hope. The reason is treatment for addiction doesn’t work and only ends in a lifetime cycle of relapse and recovery instead of being able to stop addiction and put it in your past. You want to build a fulfilling life, not a life lived around recovery and fearing your next relapse. There is a better solution and it’s not treatment—it’s non 12 Step.
Living in Florida you know the available options for help with Cocaine are overwhelmingly treatment based. Since research shows treatment is not the most effective short or long term issue for Drug addiction, it’s time to look beyond treatment and starting thinking about leaving addiction and the fear of relapse behind. Relapse is key to understand so you don’t make the mistake so many people in Florida do and keep on the treatment treadmill without results.
Relapse is often spoken of an absolute certainty when discussing Cocaine addiction. Unfortunately, most people who attend treatment not only are taught this but expect to experience it and it can then be a self fulfilling prophecy! Treatment promotes the idea of relapse because treatment doesn’t work. In Florida alone, of the 2,172 people who look for help with Cocaine addiction and go to treatment, 75% or 1,629 relapse. When you tell someone to expect what you have just given them to fail and then teach them it is their fault when it does, you have a return customer. Treatment focuses on abstinence and fear rather than helping people to recognize their own power to help themselves and move beyond addiction. Of course treatment fails but it is important to remember that doesn’t mean you or a loved one fails if relapse occurs. Instead it is time to look for a proven effective alternative that can work for long term success.
When treatment doesn’t work, a non 12 Step solution is an excellent and effective alternative.
