If you or a loved one are living with Cocaine addiction, you already know you’re not alone. Searching for the right solution can be difficult and discouraging. So many people seem to need help and often they return again and again to treatment. If treatment works, why are people getting worse instead of better? The answer is treatment doesn’t work but luckily there is a truly effective way to end addiction- Non 12 Step.
Living in Florida you may be wondering if there is any treatment that works for addiction. The simple answer is treatment doesn’t work. While numbers increase for Drug addiction in Florida, helping someone overcome Cocaine is really about looking for a non 12 Step program as research shows this approach to be an effective long term solution.
Relapse is often spoken of an absolute certainty when discussing Cocaine addiction. Unfortunately, most people who attend treatment not only are taught this but expect to experience it and it can then be a self fulfilling prophecy! Treatment promotes the idea of relapse because treatment doesn’t work. In Florida alone, of the 2,172 people who look for help with Cocaine addiction and go to treatment, 75% or 1,629 relapse. When you tell someone to expect what you have just given them to fail and then teach them it is their fault when it does, you have a return customer. Treatment focuses on abstinence and fear rather than helping people to recognize their own power to help themselves and move beyond addiction. Of course treatment fails but it is important to remember that doesn’t mean you or a loved one fails if relapse occurs. Instead it is time to look for a proven effective alternative that can work for long term success.
