Cocaine and crack cocaine continue to be among the most widely available drugs throughout Minnesota, usually coming from California, Chicago and Detroit.
According to the 2003-2004 data from the NSDUH approximately 313,000 (7.4%) Minnesota citizens (ages 12 or older) reported past month use of an illicit drug. 91,000 (2.16%) reported past year cocaine use. Additional 2003-2003 NSDUH results indicate that 120,000 (2.82%) Minnesota citizens reported illicit drug dependence or abuse within the past year. Approximately 78,000 (1.85%) reported past year illicit drug dependence.
According to the NSDUH data approximately 10% Minnesota 12-17 year olds reported past month use of an illicit drug. 8,000 (1.87%) reported past year cocaine use.
