Methamphetamine use has blown up in Colorado during recent years. In 1998 the number of Meth lab seizures was down around 31 states wide. In year 2002 that number shot up to an unbelievable 454. Officials estimate that still only 1 out of 10 labs are busted. After 1999 publicly funded treatment centers in Colorado reported that the number of admissions for marijuana, cocaine, and heroin was actually decreasing; while Methamphetamine admissions nearly doubled from 1997 to 2001. 30.8 percent of the federal sentences in Colorado during 2001 were Crystal meth Related; higher than the national percentage. Although high purity crystal forms of the substance are becoming more available, the most common form has been diluted to a purity of about 20 percent.
