Making the choice to get help for you drug use is an important decision. Therefore, the inability to pay for a rehab program should not keep you from getting the help that you need. There are affordable drug rehab centers available that will allow you to get sober and to take back control of your life.
Drug rehab programs include inpatient and outpatient programs as well as medical and nonmedical. An outpatient program allows you to self report to a clinic or doctor's office to receive long term medication that you take rather than those you have been taking. Methadone clinics are the most common of these.
Methadone clinics issue the narcotic methadone, which is an opiate and from the same family of drugs that oxycodone, morphine and vicodin come from. Methadone and suboxone are replacement drugs for excessive drug use, however there is research that shows that even methadone and suboxone can be over used. Methadone clinics also require their clients to participate in a 12 step program.
12 step programs follow the false teaching that drug use is a disease, that you inherited an addiction gene from your family and that you are powerless in your efforts to stop your drug use. 12 step programs promote that the only treatment is abstinence, participation in group meetings for the rest of your life and belief in a higher power. Group meetings are events in which 12 step members come together and vent their frustrations and hostilities of their drug use and their experiences with drug use.
12 step programs have been seen as resorting to manipulation and labeling to control their members. It is suggested that up to 95 percent of 12 step members leave the program because they feel they cannot be successful. While 12 step programs are one type of affordable drug rehab centers, the end results is a life filled with being told that you are an addict, forced confessions and the feeling that you will never be anything more, which is not very uplifting, encouraging or positive.
Another form of affordable drug rehab centers is a holistic approach. These rehab centers use acupuncture, meditation therapy, vitamin therapy and yoga to naturally ease the desire to use drugs. You can find holistic centers available as an outpatient and also inpatient. Inpatient holistic rehab is a spa retreat where you spend a week or longer. This gives you the opportunity to relax and be renewed.
Cognitive behavioral education is another affordable program in which guests learn to use self assessment and self change to reevaluate their choices and decisions. Guests use the techniques to make decisions and choices that are more productive and to develop habits and behaviors that will lead to a life that is more positive and purposeful.
The six week program at St. Jude Retreats helps guests discover that they can achieve sobriety through abstinence or moderation with lifelong meetings. We are not a 12 step program. We are a non-treatment program. The truth is that you are not diseased and there is no addiction gene. You have the power to change. Our guests are discovering that they have the strength to have a life that is free from meetings and free from drug use.
