New York Drug Rehabilitation Center is a place where by which a person addicted to a drug goes to for help to stop and get help from abusing that drug. Drug Rehabilitation is an umbrella term for a wide variety of processes by which a person addicted to a drug stops using that drug. A New York Drug Rehab Center can and do vary from allowing the person to stop cold turkey to a rehab center that uses substitute drugs which do not have the same action upon the state of consciousness as the original drug to which the person was addicted. There are many New York Drug Rehabs that can vary widely from inpatient to outpatient, to hospital settings to home and residential settings, from "AA" diseased based programs to holistic and choice based programs like the Saint Jude Program.
The "AA" approach is that of the disease concept. Once an "alcoholic" always an "alcoholic" is one of the many sayings. The 12-step approach leads people to believe that they are diseased and always will be with no hope for wellness. Some facilities rely on using a holistic approach, addressing the underlying issues driving the addiction and then focus on getting the body back into shape physically which in turn will realign their life.
The Saint Jude Program uses the freedom model, having the person realize, believe and live a life that they chose. Their entire life is made up of their own choices and they are the only ones able to fix it. New York, as well as the World, needs to come to recognize the power of choice. Choice and power is what our lives lack. We must work hard at this process and gain an understanding on how to live in concert with our choices.
