The Saint Jude Program is an inpatient educational program which teaches guests how to make better choices in their lives. Our goal is to help individuals realize they contain the power to stop using drugs. At Saint Jude's, we use a different approach than other Drug Rehab programs in Maryland by focusing on personal empowerment and not an addiction. Call us today to learn why Saint Jude's is the answer!
Recently surveys were completed by The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), 19,046 or 32.2% of Maryland's 51,215 drug and alcohol abusers admitted themselves into treatment for heroin. Not including the 11,698 state residents who admitted themselves into treatment for either opiates or more than one drug. Studies also show that 117,000 or 2.6% of Maryland's citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment fort illicit drug and alcohol use in the past year. Surveys indicate that at the time of the survey 1.2% of high school seniors had tried heroin in the past 12 months. Heroin is abused throughout Maryland, but is centered in and around the city of Baltimore, where high-purity heroin is readily available. Baltimore is home to higher numbers of heroin addicts and heroin-related crime than almost any other city in the nation and these problems tend to spill over into adjoining counties where many heroin distributors maintain residences. The enormous demand for heroin in the Baltimore metropolitan area led to an increase in the drug's abuse among teens and young adults, who routinely drive into the city to obtain heroin for themselves and other local abusers. In the Baltimore metropolitan area, heroin is sold almost exclusively by street name and packaged in gelatin capsules.
If you or a loved one are living with Heroin addiction, you already know you’re not alone. Searching for the right solution can be difficult and discouraging. So many people seem to need help and often they return again and again to treatment. If treatment works, why are people getting worse instead of better? The answer is treatment doesn’t work but luckily there is a truly effective way to end addiction- Non 12 Step.
Most people in Maryland who are looking for help with Heroin are hoping to find a permanent solution to Drug addiction. Traditional treatment , in the form of 12 Steps and rehabs, is not an effective solution for long term success. In 2014, of the 14,475 people looking for help, 11,189 or 77.3% will relapse one or more times and return again to the same treatment with the same result.
What isn’t counted in the rates of Heroin addiction are how many of these admissions are people who relapse and return to treatment. Unfortunately, most people choosing traditional treatment will follow a cycle of relapse and return to treatment over and over again in their lifetime. Relapse rates for Heroin addiction are 77.3% or 11,189 real people who are on the treatment treadmill. Research shows clearly that treatment doesn’t work. If treatment doesn’t work, what can you or a loved one do to end the cycle of relapse for Drug addiction?
