The Saint Jude Program, a 6 to 10 week Residential Program for Drug and Alcohol Use.

The Saint Jude Program is based on the proven fact that every individual can change their life for the better. By utilizing positive reinforcement, and integrating the science of Neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to change and rewire itself), guests are educated in a customized process that focuses on re-installing positive thought processes into one's life.

While the fundamental educational pieces are crucial for the success of the guests, the integrated Social aspect provides people with the confidence and necessary life skills to return home and maintain a fulfilling life.

By applying both, the educational and social principles learned at the St. Jude Retreats, in an intensive, yet caring and comfortable environment people are armed with the tools to achieve long lasting success.

The Program is structured in 3 different modules:

Weeks 1 and 2: Empowerment - Knowledge is Power

Our educational process begins with the guests gaining an understanding that they in fact can gain full control over their lives. That they do not have a disease of addiction, but rather, that they have made counterproductive choices based on a lack of more productive options is one of the keys to future success. For those who have been exposed to treatment programs in the past, we help the guest discard the learned powerlessness that is the foundation of treatment programs nationwide. We dispel the myths that you or your loved one is powerless over "addiction" and that you cannot control your behaviors and your life. We instill hope, by teaching factually empowering information based on credible research, and begin the empowerment process. Everyone has the power to change!

Weeks 3 and 4: Self Analysis - The Past

The ultimate goal of this program is to build a future based on success and positive reinforced behaviors. To build a sound future, the guests self analyze their pasts first, through an autobiographical process outlined by the text, workbooks and the instructor's help. This is an especially intense 14 days, as analyzing one's past can be painful but also necessary and illuminating. And unlike most treatment models, the last week of this stage of the program, teaches and allows the guest to finally forgive themselves, forgive others, and also move past the habits that have been so counterproductive. This work also delves into the positive aspects of one's past, so as to begin to prepare for the last stage - which is to build a plan and goal set for the future.

Weeks 5 and 6: Self Actualization - The Future

This stage of the program is unbelievably productive. By creating goal sets, both short and long term, the guests learn how to expand on the positive habits, talents and dreams that began to be expressed in the previous stage of the program while writing out their autobiographies. By spending 2 full weeks creating this plan the guest has a written course of events that are carried out when they return home. This is crucial for long term success, and is the vital portion missing from nearly all other programs in the country.

Testimonial

From the first moment that I walked into the St. Jude Retreat House, I knew this place was different. I felt a sense of comfort and belonging immediately. The ideas and concepts were new to me. There were no counselors or psychiatrists diagnosing me. There was no substituting one drug for another. There were no group therapy sessions. And there was no blaming others for my life's failures. Yes, I learned that much of my life was my fault, but I learned that this was truly good news, because that meant I could fix it. And I was shown exactly how to do just that. The Saint Jude Program has changed my life completely. I have found a new sense of peace in my life. I am so grateful that I have decided to stay and help others to gain the freedom and happiness that I now enjoy."
