According to studies performed by the Office of Applied Studies, National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 2003 and 2004, the total number of people ages 12 and older in the state of Maryland who used marijuana in the past year is 470,000. Of the 470,000, 70,000 were between the ages of 12 and 17. 163,000 past year marijuana users were of ages 18 to 25 and 237,000 were 26 and older. Total use of marijuana in the past month, according to the same survey, by people ages 12 and older is 1,159,000. 147,000 were ages 12 to 17, 121,000 were 18-25 and 1,330,000 were age 26 or older.
Marijuana medical use in Maryland will now be made legal and put into effect on October 1, 2013. There will be three dispensaries opening just two miles from the U.S. Department of Justice. Those who have HIV, AIDS, cancer, glaucoma or multiple sclerosis will be approved for medical marijuana use. They will have to pay a $100 registration fee that has photo identification, can only visit one dispensary and not purchase more than two ounces per month.
Marijuana rehab and treatment centers in Maryland will tell you that you are treatable but are not able to be cured from substance use, will label you as an addict and let you believe that they are your only option.
