As of June 2013, Pennsylvania is one of the 6 states trying to pass legislation to legalize medical marijuana. Views on marijuana use in Pennsylvania has changed drastically over the past 5 to 10 years. The bill would tax and regulate the sale of marijuana much like alcohol, this is known as the Pennsylvania Marijuana Policy Project. Currently about 77% of Americans are on board with the legalization of marijuana for medical use and recreational. Narcotics enforcement and detectives agree that legalizing marijuana would decrease the black market on marijuana and some of the crime occurring from it. It would also give police a break from endless chasing marijuana drug dealers and to protect the communities of Pennsylvania. Senators are hoping to join Colorado and Washington in their success soon.
