Over the last few years more and more residents are fighting to make medical marijuana legal in the state of Utah instead of fearing it as a unruly drug. Attitudes have turned in favor of Marijuana and claim the benefits of marijuana outweigh the negatives. In fact less than 30% of the American population are opposed to legalizing medical marijuana in Utah. Currently possessing an ounce or less can end in a penalty of 6 months in jail. Legislation in Utah however in 2013 was shot down to reform laws regarding marijuana in Utah. Some legislators in this state are more for marijuana and are fighting the Marijuana Policy Project, others agree it will only cause harm and more criminal activity. Marijuana when used for medical purposes can help manage stress, chronic headaches and pain. It also has be noted to help cancer patients through their journey. People will always believe they need to go to Marijuana Treatment and Rehab in Utah, but in the long run it may not benefit them to attend a 12 step program which makes up over 90% of rehabs today.
