Facing a drug use problem that feels out of control and in need of relief can be scary. As you look for a program to help you, there are plenty of programs that shift blame and responsibility and there are programs that will tell you that your situation is hopeless and that you are defeated. You may begin to believe those types of programs and accept the fact that your life is destined to be interwoven with drug use. But, your life does not have to end there.

You need a program that inspires you to think positively! If you are wondering, can positive thinking help my drug use, the answer is yes! Positive thinking will not just help your drug use problems, but it can turn your life around and lead you to a life that is more productive, positive and purposeful! In fact, the best programs are the ones that focus on the inside and the outside.  Also, studies have proven time and again that cognitive behavioral education is the most effective substance use program method available.

Traditional treatment programs do not effectively address the fact that people change their lives from the inside – such as their way of thinking and dealing with their problems. Rather than accepting labels, judgments and the idea that you are diseased; cognitive behavioral education focuses on the fact that you can change; it is just a matter of choice.

Cognitive behavioral education teaches that you can move beyond your situation and circumstance and have a life that is permanently free from drug use. By teaching self assessment you can reevaluate your thoughts, choices and decisions and make choices that are more productive. Individuals learn that they can develop more positive habits and behaviors which lead them to a life that is more fulfilling.

The truth is that you are not diseased; you have just built habits that are counterproductive. Stress is going to be a part of life and you can learn to be able to cope and deal with stress without turning to drugs. Learning to make decisions that promote positive reinforcement rather than destructive behavior will help you be proactive in your life which will bring about  healthier results.

Your excessive drug use has been supported by certain habits and behavior, but they have been your choice. By making a different choice, your efforts will be focused on a more positive and healthier lifestyle. You do not need treatment for the rest of your life, nor will you need lifelong meetings. To build a happy, successful life, you simply need a plan of action.

St. Jude Retreats uses a cognitive behavioral program that helps guests develop a plan for a happier future using self awareness and self change. Our guests discover an increase in their self confidence, self control and in their self esteem, and they are empowered to build  a life that is free from drug use.

St. Jude Retreats offers three different retreat settings that are positive and relaxing. Guests will have small classes of no more than four per group and will engage in a learning opportunity that helps them become more aware of their choices, habits and behaviors. Our six week program will help the guest look at their past, present and plan for their future.
